BIG trends

It has been brought up on the Etsy forums whether it matters to follow trends or whether you should just do what inspires you?  I have mixed feelings about this.  While on the one hand, I like to make what I like but I also have to compete with the H&M's, Forever 21s, etc.  On the other hand, if I'm just not into a look, I'm gonna pass.

Fortunately for me, BIG is in! And I like putting together obnoxious accessories.  Check out these  new earrings in my shop.

It's one of the few things I am loving about this 80s revival.....not so much the acid-wash jeans tho *shiver*.

Needle Felting Class

Oooh if I didn't already have two events to go to, I would definitely be there.  But I still wanted to share this neat class being offered at Clay, Wood & Cotton.

Learn the art of needle felting!

Get started making your own unique Christmas ornaments, jewelry and more.

Saturday, November 7th, 10:30AM-12:30PM
at Clay Wood & Cotton, 149 Main St., Beacon

Make soft creatures, pendants, ornaments, or anything you like by "sculpting" with wool and a special felting needle. We're hosting Nguyen Le of KnitKnit, whose work has received national coverage, as the instructor for this class.

Cost: $40 for the class, $10 for materials

Note: This class is recommended for adults only, as the needles are very sharp.

A 50% deposit is required to hold your place (cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the class in order to receive store credit):

1. Drop by the shop and pay in person. We're at 149 Main Street, and are open Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays 12-7, and Saturdays and Sundays 11-8.

2. Give us a call with your credit card number, at 845-481-0149, during the same hours

Happy Friday!

There is just not enough time in the day for me to share with everyone all the new items I have been making.

Peach Passion

This pendant was found in a cute antique shop located in upstate New York. I saw it from across the room and it was screaming out "Please take me! Bring me back to life!!" I couldn't say no. So much potential can be found in items just sitting around. Same goes for these earrings.

Tequilla Sunrise

I'm happy to report that my Rainbow Splash earrings have found a new home. Unfortunately, earrings like these I am unable to replicate so get them while you can. I will be making more this weekend - which I think I will be rained in for so it's a perfect time to create.

I just need a day to stay in and just work on my shop.  It's hard to do when you work a full-time job during the week.  I really wish Pulp Sushi was my full-time job. Maybe one day, I'll keep at it. Even when I'm 70.

Chelsea recap and new earrings

I was so excited about the DaWanda post yesterday, that I decided to delay my weekend recap for a day.  The Crafts In Chelsea show was a huge success. I must confess that I came *thisclose* to backing out due to weather concerns. I'm glad I went with my gut and stuck with it.  Turned out to be an ok day to stand outside for 8 hours. I was dressed warmly and the people came out to shop! I wish I had pictures to share.  It was set up like a street fair only all of the vendors were handmade sellers, no bootleg, off-the-truck stuff and the folks really appreciated it.  Such great quality merchandise.  I can't wait to do it again.

I am reminded once again why I enjoy selling in person. My online sales have been quite slow lately and it was starting to make me question if I should continue doing what I'm doing. The feedback I received this past Saturday reassured me of it (the DaWanda piece helped too) :).

I debut some new marble jewelry at the show (rings & earrings).  So far I've added two of them to the shop.

Jungle Studs

I plan to add more items later this evening so make sure you check back!

DaWanda ♥'s Pulp Sushi

Exciting news over at DaWanda, I kept this hush hush but I can now share that I am featured seller at DaWanda's blog today. =D

Dawanda

Today also marks the beginning of DaWanda's special, Wall Fall Sale! What is that?

Did you know that this year mark's the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall? DaWanda was born and raised in Berlin, so this is a fantastic reason to celebrate!

And celebrate we will, by offering all our lovely members 15% off in all participating shops which you have never made a purchase from before!

The Wall Fall sale continues from today until 23:59 CET on Sunday, October 25th - all participating products will be marked with the little red flag icon you can see above.

In all participating shops (where products will be marked with a little flag icon), in which you are shopping for the first time, you will receive a 15% Discount off the original price during the sale period! The reduced price will be calculated and displayed during the order process, and in your shopping basket. Please note - the discount will only apply for your first purchase, so it's best to pack a few things into your shopping basket at once!

Of course I did not want to miss out on all of the fun, stop by Pulp Sushi @ DaWanda for special offers.

Checking in

Been out of it for the last couple of days fighting a cold, and the cold won.  Hence my lack of updates.  Been trying to work through it but sometimes you just need to rest and let your body do it's thing to get rid of it.

I did muster up enough energy to see KISS at Madison Square Garden last night. It was a good time.  Never been to a concert with so many families before. It was crazy! But seeing the kids into the band was very cute.  It made me to happy to see some bands still hold their significance meanwhile there are so many crappy bands that seem to come and go.  I found some GREAT footage from the show on YouTube from that show, check it out!
