New This Week

Gosh I feel like it's been forever since I've added new items to the shop.  I was able to catch up a bit this weekend. Click images for Etsy listing.  This long weekend was so refreshing.  I feel like I was going through a dry spell in the creativity department where I just didn't feel like making anything.  When that happens, I just leave it be and do something else to trigger it again.  Like spending time on pinterest.

There are more items that will be added to the shop but you know me, I like to spread them out a bit.  Plus I have something special to annouce....tomorrow. You'll have to come back and see. :)

Inspire Me - Vincent Price

Friday Treasuries have been put on hold this week for another Inspire Me post.  Today is a special day because it would have been Vincent Price's 100th birthday.

I've loved him for as long as I can remember. He is the reason why I got into and love Horror. Not Jason, Freddy, Myers or any other slasher. I watched many "old" horror movies on a weekend afternoon starring him.

He had the best voice ever (Thriller anyone?).  You never knew when he was going to make a cameo television appearance...

When a profile asks for my favorite movie, I always indicate "Anything with Vincent Price". My Flickr name is "Phibesgirl" for The Abominable Dr Phibes movies - with that creepy band! Ack!

ImagesCA39W5E5LOVE HIM!  He always carried himself in such a classy dignified manner with the likes of Christopher Lee, John Carradine & Peter Kushing. Such a contradiction for someone known famously for being in the Horror genere.  Unfortunately, we don't have horror actors like that anymore - iconic and respected not cheesy or hokey.  Thankfully there is a huge catalog of Price's work that we can continue to enjoy. That's my plan for this long holiday weekend.

Bust Spring Craftacular Recap

OUCH!

That's kind of how my body felt yesterday and even more today.  Tired. Very tired.  Saturday was a long day.

Huge turnout! Sales were decent considering it was a non-holiday show and Mother's Day had just passed.  I received a lot of good feedback too.I was set up next to Saucier Jewelry and Aaron's work is pretty damn amazing, I would love to have a pair of his earrings.  Gorgeous work!

And speaking of working, he was working the entire time (you can see him sitting behind me). Every time I turned around he was making new pieces. I wish I could do that. I would just make a mess everywhere.

There was also a vendor there whose face looked so damn familiar! It was driving me nuts.  At one point she passed by me and I had to tell her that I knew her from somewhere.  Turns out we took a college course together back in 2000 - some crazy Sexuality class taught by a crackpot which was a complete waste of time.  Anywho, she was there with her baking business Robicelli's

This is their Chicken & Waffle cupcake - I did not get a chance to try one but I did leave with some Tiramisu cupcakes, yum! I'm following their Twitter now.

Hope I can do the next Bust event for the Holidays.  My next show will not be until August so I have time to lay low, regroup and figure some things out.  I'm really tired - it's hard to explain it but things like this are a challenge when you're generally a shy person like myself.  It takes a lot of energy to be a salesperson which I may not have the personality for.

Oh and before I forget, I am on Pinterest now!   Still trying to figure this thing out but it's fun.  Is there a way to share pinboards on a blog like one does with a treasury? I gotta play around with this some more. Anyway, feel free to follow me, I'm kind of all over the place.

Nothing New This Week

Another Monday is upon us and it doesn't look like I have any new items to share.  I was not home most of the weekend. I had a mini-vacation staying in the city with my boyfriend.

Friday we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art because I really wanted to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit.

Unfortunately, I was unable to take photographs but trust me, it was pretty amazing to see. It was sooooo crowded too.  The exhibit was a lot bigger than I thought it would be.    The setting was pretty spectacular - very Dark Gothic Victorian, HR Giger mixed with some Hellraiser and Tim Burton.  I loved being able to see these shoes in person.  There was a coffee table book for sale of the exhibit, I regret not picking it up. =/

Screen shot 2011-05-15 at 8.07.41 PMThere was also a bodice made entirely out of mussel shells that I wish I could find a picture to show you but I can't seem to.  Of course I played it cool on the outside checking everything out but inside, my mind was blown. ACK! I just wish I could have been able to hang out there by myself! Oh well.  I did take some photos throughout the rest of the museum, I always say it's one of my FAVORITE places to be in NYC.

If you want to see more, I have more pictures uploaded on my Flickr.

Saturday was the 9th Avenue Food Festival and if there's one thing I love - it's street food. It's a pretty popular festival.

This photo was NOT taken this year.  This year it was kind of drab and rainy but it didn't stop us from being out and snacking on some empanadas, teriyaki balls, thai dumplings & spring rolls, alligator sausage (which was more pork than alligator) and more.  It was a good time.  Some good eating overall this weekend and fairly on the cheap too!
